Based
on the story of the cupbearer Ganymede, Fidus treats the motif of the child
with the eagle several times in his oeuvre. There are pencil drawings of this
motif from 1891 and 1901. See. e.g., The Daulton Collection, Fidus 45, for two such drawings.
