Harpye,

1892/1895,

print on paper with silver-blue heightening

Hans Thoma (1839-1924)

"Harpye"

silver-blue heightening over tachographie print (Beringer, Griffelkunst 7) on wove paper mounted on light cardboard

47 x 38,5 cm

1892 (print) / 1895 (heightening added)

In the lower right, this work was later handsigned and inscribed by Thoma in black ink, in Karlsruhe in 1916, the inscription indicating that when he added the heightening in 1895 the color was blue, but that it had been bleached by time.
