Discussion:
"Joseph Uhl was born in New York to Catholic parents who returned to Germany soon after his birth. In 1899, Uhl was enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he spent a substantial part of his life. Aside from a relatively few paintings, Uhl dedicated himself entirely to etching and created mostly intimate portraits. Max Klinger and his work had a lasting influence on Uhl's style." B
