Discussion:
This painting is Rudolf Jettmar's love letter to the pianist Marzelline (Marze) Kudlic, with whom Jettmar was in a relationship after he and his wife Irma separated in 1920. Kudlic owned the painting, and, after her death, it was returned by her heirs to the artist's son. Jettmar painted portraits of Marze in 1927 and 1929; The Daulton Collection owns the 1929 portrait.
