Provenance:  Industrialist Dr. Eugen Lucius (1834-1903), Frankfurt a.M, who acquired the drawing directly from the artist between 1894 and 1903


In the Archive of the German Youth Movement (Archiv der deutschen Jugendbewegung) in Witzenhausen, there is a closely related watercolor drawing of nearly identical composition (but in a largely monochromatic blue-purple palette).  See: Archiv der deutschen Jugendbewegung, N 38 (Höppener, Hugo, gen.
