"Unmittelbar nach seiner Trennung von Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach, bei dem er zuvor als Schüler in Höllriegelskreuth gelebt hatte, entstand Fidus' Zeichnung "Gebet". Inbrünstig hat das Mädchen im ovalen Medaillon die Hände erhoben und mit abgewinkelten Armen betend unter dem Kinn verschränkt, dabei blickt sie direkt zum Betrachter. Die Linien ihres fließenden Gewandes nehmen Hintergrundstruktur und Rahmenverzierungen auf und führen sie weiter. Die Pünktchen um ihren Kopf und die Kreisform mittig darüber evozieren Vorstellungen von Sternenhimmel und Vollmond." B
"Immediately after his separation from Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach, with whom he had previously lived as a student in Höllriegelskreuth, Fidus' drawing 'Prayer' was created. The girl in the oval medallion has raised her hands fervently and folded her arms under her chin in prayer, looking directly at the viewer. The lines of her flowing robe pick up on the background structure and frame decorations and continue them.
