Discussion:

"The modern orientation of the Dresden Academy of Art, which was characterized by the combination of teaching technical skills with artistic freedom, was seen as an almost ideal basis for the artistic development of young students before the First World War up to the early 1920s. Oskar Zwintscher's teaching style is exemplary of this and so it is not surprising that Zwintscher was highly valued by his students. This is evidenced by the present portfolio, which Zwintscher received from his students for Christmas in 1910. It is a unique compendium consisting of 22 works by his students in the painting class. The works included [, among others]: Arthur Bär (1884-1972); Gottfried Bretscher (1888-1986): Ghosts; Martin Claus (1892-1975): Bellflower; Walter Damm (1889-1961): Self-portrait; Adolf Köglsperger (1891-1960): At the window; Richard Naumann-Coschütz (1886-1961); Georg Ludwig Neugebauer (1889-1974); Georg Oehme (1890-1955): Self-portrait to the right; Martin E. Philipp (1887-1978); Vaclaw Szczeblewksi (1888-1956) [and Bruno Heinz (1890-1922)]."   B

Vorhanden sind u.a. Arbeiten von: Arthur Bär (1884-1972); Gottfried Bretscher (1888-1986): Gespenster; Martin Claus (1892-1975): Glockenblume; Walter Damm (1889-1961): Selbstbildnis; Adolf Köglsperger (1891-1960): Am Fenster; Richard Naumann-Coschütz (1886-1961); Georg Ludwig Neugebauer (1889-1974); Georg Oehme (1890-1955): Selbstbildnis nach rechts; Martin E. Philipp (1887-1978); Vaclaw Szczeblewksi (1888-1956) [; und Bruno Heinz (1890-1922)]."
